Originally created in the 14th century, Lake Pichola in Udaipur (Rajasthan, India) was progressively extended by successive Mewar Kings to cover its modern catchment area of 55km2. Despite the variety of environmental issues it faces, Lake Pichola continue to enhance the appeal of Udaipur as one of India's most important tourism destinations.
