A highly unusual August snowfall brings winter like conditions to Dovrefjell National Park (near Oppdal, Norway), one of the rare places in the world where you can photograph the majestic musk ox in the wild. Despite its name, this powerful arctic mammal is related to goats and sheep. During the last Ice Age, 30,000 years ago, musk ox, wooly rhinoceros and mammoths lived together. When photographing this animal, safety mandates that your keep your distance: the stocky musk ox is known for its hot temper, its thick skull and its ability to charge at very high speed.
